‘Feed My Sheep’
Hermeneutics be damned, I hope Benedict stands up and apologizes whether or not his speech is rightly interpreted as anti-Muslim. Christians are being threatened, kidnapped, and killed, people who are entrusted to your direction and care! Mistakes do not live in intention only, but also in formulation and consequence. The surest way to undermine your position as spiritual leader of the global church is to remain silent while your flock suffers on your account. Soon, Christians will also rightly demand an apology.
God, be with our sisters and brothers in Iraq.

The speech was not anti-Muslim. It made little sense for some Muslims to respond to the pope’s supposed calumny (ie that they are violent and brutal) by VIOLENTLY PROTESTING and killing people.
The pope need not apologize to Christians who are being persecuted by zealots. The truth must be said—Muslims have great religious freedom in the West, yet they do not extend it to Christians in predominantly Muslim nations. The only ones who must apologize are those whose action and silence spreads militant Islam.
That includes Islamic religious leaders who turn a blind eye to radicals in their fold as well as to the worldwide media for failing to report accurately on what the pope actually said.
